About SHA256 Online

A browser-local multi-algorithm hash and file verification tool maintained by Yida-Dev.

What the tool does

Exact bytes, useful conclusions

SHA256 Online calculates MD5, SHA1, SHA256, SHA512, SHA3-256 and CRC32. Text tools include input decoding and optional HMAC for cryptographic hashes; file tools include batch checksum comparison.

The shared tool-engine uses hash-wasm 4.12.0 under the MIT license. Files are read in chunks inside a local worker; this tool does not open document formats, scan malware or provide a remote upload service.

Built-in byte examples have independently reproducible results. Empty-input results are available without JavaScript; calculating your own data requires JavaScript and WebAssembly.

Practical questions

What does SHA256 Online do?

It computes browser-local hashes for text and files, then optionally compares a reference you supply.

Which hash algorithms are available?

MD5, SHA1, SHA256, SHA512, SHA3-256 and CRC32. Choose the algorithm named by your reference.

Who maintains the tool?

Yida-Dev maintains the site. The Contact page links the maintainer’s public GitHub profile.

What performs the hashing?

The shared tool-engine uses hash-wasm 4.12.0. Its worker reads file chunks locally rather than uploading file contents.

Is this a malware scanner?

No. It fingerprints bytes and compares values. It does not inspect software behavior or establish that a file is safe.

Why are legacy algorithms still listed?

Some older references require MD5 or SHA1. Their availability is for compatibility, not a recommendation for new security designs.

What can be read without JavaScript?

The explanations, algorithm references and known empty-input digests are server-rendered static HTML. Custom calculations need JavaScript and WebAssembly.

Are sign-in or subscriptions required?

No. The tool has no account, payment or subscription flow.
